This touching song by the Association was actually written by Charles Zimmerman while a student at the University of Michigan.
The short-sightedness of his father made Charlie accept $5,000 to sign away his rights. In 1967 I reviewed the lyrics and advised the Zimmerman’s not to accept the offer. I did not retain the original hand-written notes.
It is hard to believe that Unchained Melody is not on this list. It may be the most powerful and best sung song of all time. Look at the movies it is in. Just hard to believe!
